General: The course is designed to familiarize divers with skills, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards, and excitement of diving on shipwrecks. The goals of this course are to develop the student's practical knowledge of the underwater wreck environment, to raise awareness of the historical significance of shipwrecks, and the social and legal issues surrounding shipwrecks. Also the course will enable the student to plan and organize dives, to safely explore wrecks found in our local waters. The PADI deep diver rating is also included in this course and you will gain the knowledge and experience to dive to maximum depths of 130ft. The gear requirements for this course is typical for NJ wreck diving.
Prerequisites:
-PADI Advanced Open Water, or equivalent rating.
-Minimum age 18 Years.
-While it is not mandatory, you should have logged dives (other than training dives), preferably in a salt water environment.
Class Overview:
Session # 1 (7:00pm-11:00pm): Class at Elite Divers
Session #2: Dutch Springs
Session #3: Dutch Springs
Session #4: Ocean Dive
Gear Required:
Complete Open Water Gear ,redundant Alternate Air source (15 cu. ft. or greater pony bottle) Wreck Reel-250 ft. minimum,100 lb. Lift bag and if you want to bring home dinnar a good Catch bag.
Costs You Can Expect: Please call Elite Divers Directly at (973) 586-2214 for Class Fee. Not included in the class fee: Boat Fees of $100.00/per trip (as of the 2011 season), daily entry into Dutch Springs and incidentals such as transportation and food. Course does not include any additional gear you may need.
Students must supply 2 Wallet-Sized Photos for the processing of your Certification card.
Reminder: You will need to register in advance, pick up both manuals and read them prior to the start of the class. All knowledge reviews must be completed by the end of the last class. Class Session #1 will cover deep diving, Class Session #2 will cover wreck diving. Bring all your personal gear you will be using for the course on the first orientation night. There is a $50 Non refundable deposit for this class.
What's Next? A really good idea is Enriched Air Nitrox, if you get up and drive all the way down to the boat, spend all the money on gas and tolls, why dive air when you can get increased bottom time by diving Nitrox!! Get more bottom time and reduce your nitrogen loading!
