General: This course is designed to help the diver develop accident prevention and risk management skills. You will gain confidence and self-assurance by learning how to assist other divers in distress as well as develop the skills necessary for self-rescue. Scuba is a very safe activity, but with any sport, accidents can and do happen. This class will give you the tools to handle yourself and take care of others. It is serious FUN!
Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water, or equivalent, Minimum Age 15 Years. You will also need a current CPR and First Aid Certification BEFORE beginning this course. Elite Divers is lucky to have some of the best Emergency First Response Instructors on staff that can teach the Emergency First Response course. The Emergency First Response course will meet and exceed the CPR & First Aid prerequisite.
Class Overview:
Session # 1 (7:00pm-11:00pm @ Elite Divers): Covers Sections #1, #2 & #3 in class at Elite Divers, plus rescue skills covered in these sections will be performed in our pool.
Session # 2 (7:00pm-11:00pm @ Elite Divers): Covers Sections #4, #5 & #6 in class at Elite Divers, plus rescue skills covered in these sections will be performed in our pool. A final exam will be administered. Please study!
Session # 3 & 4 (Saturday & Sunday 9:00am-? @ Dutch Spings, PA): Individual rescue skills will be reviewed, and accident management scenarios will be covered.
Gear Required: Complete set of Open water gear. Pocket Mask and Rescue Diver Crew Pack. Throw bags and victims supplied by the instructor!
Costs You Can Expect: Please call Elite Divers Directly at (973) 586-2214 for Class Fee. Course does not include any additional gear you may need (but Elite Divers will rent you anything you're missing), daily entry into Dutch Springs, transportation, tank fills or food are also not covered.
Students must supply 2 Wallet-Sized Photos for the processing of your Certification card.
Reminder: You need to sign up in advance. Pick up the Rescue Crew Pack, pocket mask and DVD at Elite Divers. You need to read sections #1, #2 & #3 before the first class. Read sections #4, #5 and #6 before the second class. Complete the appropriate knowledge reviews for each section (to be handed in). Watch the DVD as a review to further understand rescue concepts. The knowledge development is home study. You need to bring your dive gear to each class.
What's Next? From here, your choices are completely varied, depending on what your interests are. The PADI Rescue Diver class is a prerequisite to become a PADI Divemaster, GO PRO! As a Divemaster you can help assist teaching others how to dive. You can also collect 5 PADI specialty ratings and be awarded the highest non teaching rank of Master Diver. Some Technical Instructors and even buddies prefer you are rescue certified before going on to other classes.
