General:  This course is the first step beyond entry level training for the PADI Open Water Diver. There are two levels of training, based on what the student desires to accomplish.

1. Advanced Open Water Diver - The total for this course is five dives at Dutch Springs.   This course is for those divers desiring to complete the full PADI Advanced Open Water course, but without the intention of becoming active in local diving. If you are interested in Local Diving please see our Wreck Diving Class! The Ocean dives will be escorted by either an Instructor or a Divemaster.

Prerequisites:  PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, Minimum age 15 Years.  Should have completed dives beyond actual training dives.

Class Overview:

Session # 1 (7:00pm-10:00pm):  Orientation at Elite Divers For All Levels.

Session #2 (Saturday 12 Noon): Deep Dive, Navigation Dive and Night Dive at Dutch Springs

Session #3 (Sunday 12 Noon): Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive, Search & Recovery Dive at Dutch Springs

Gear Required:    Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Compass, Wetsuit (farmer john pants, jacket, boots, hood & gloves).  Also a BCD, Regulator w/alternate air source & submersible pressure gauge, depth gauge, timing device, 2 tanks, weight belt, underwater light, dive knife, slate and cyalume stick..   At this level a a pony tank and regulator, wreck reel and lift bag are a good idea and required for the Wreck Cert.

Costs You Can Expect:   Please call Elite Divers Directly at (973) 586-2214 for Class Fee, which includes all your educational material, and the processing of your certification card.   Boat Fees of $100.00 (as of the 2010 season), daily entry into Dutch Springs  and incidentals such as transportation, food...and most likely 2 additional tank fills are not included.  Wetsuit, hood, weight belt, tanks, BCD & regulator setup (but no timing device) is available for $100 per day.   The pony tank, wreck reel, and lift bag must be purchased by the student.

Students must supply 2 Wallet-Sized Photos for the processing of your Certification card.

Reminder:    You will need to sign up in advance ($50 non-refundable deposit).  Pick up book and read appropriate chapters.  All logistics will be discussed at first meeting.    Knowledge reviews will need to be completed and turned into the instructor prior to each dive.  If you have your own gear, the instructor will need to verify that it is appropriate for local diving conditions.

What's Next?  From here, your choices are varied, depending on what your interests are.   Perhaps Wreck Diver is a great "next step" for those divers completing the Ocean dives. Enriched Air Nitrox is another great class with great benefits like increased bottom time and a further understanding about dive science.
